Ladera Hearts

Always a space where you can be YOU

Once Upon A Time...

In the summer of 2017 in Harlem, New York. Ladera Hearts was founded by Me  (Rosegawd). As a new DJ with zero connects I wanted to curate an event that merged music and fashion together also one that would allow me to practice with an audience. I did this by locking in dates with a local bar called  "Harlem Nights" and choosing Designers/Stylist and Models to host themed fashion events from June - September. I started with Chanel, Gucci and Versace. It grew slowly and also transitioned to Los Angeles by 2019. When the party really began to pick up a following the pandemic hit.

During quarantine Ladera Hearts moved to Twitch, where I spent every Saturday for over a year paying homage to various Hip Hop and R&B artists and their discographies. I would do this by highlighting an artist for the night and streaming 2-5 hours (depending on their catalog) of just their music. The tributes caught the attention of some of the artist featured like Toni Braxton and Dawn Richard who tweeted in support of their tribute nights. When outside opened back up the tribute sets continued but in person. The first was a night dedicated to Aaliyah on the anniversary of her passing. I would also begin building other events, but the tribute nights continued to grow.

May 0f 2022 Mariah Carey shared a fan made recap video of one of my Mariah Carey Nights and found me on twitter with a simple message "Invite me next time" She had me gagged. That tweet changed my tribute parties. I saw an increase in attendance across all my events, but nothing would prepare me for Club Renaissance...

Club Renaissance changed my life. I was no stranger to a Beyonce night. I had even collaborated with her biggest fan site Beyonce Legion to celebrate her in the past. We collaborated not only via twitch but in New York and Los Angeles too summer 2021. Who knew summer 22 would be such a memorable time. I gathered a few hosts early August 2022 and did a back-to-back "Club Renaissance" A Beyonce night essentially but once the room was full enough, I would spin her renaissance album from top to bottom. It was so in demand that I went to New York the end of August to have one there. As I was exiting my flight in NY my phone was going crazy! Tina Knowles had posted my Club Renaissance to her IG with a caption explaining how Jay Z sent her the video! New York went from 600 RSVPS to 1500 in hours.

My life has been nonstop since, with over 7 SOLD OUT club renaissance shows!!

As a music lover Club Renaissance reminded me how it feels to enjoy an album from top to bottom. How amazing it is to celebrate an artist who really crafted a full body of work.

I wanted to keep this idea going and tested it using Brandy's full moon album. It was a hit, and "Cult Classics" was born! A monthly celebration of the most groundbreaking R&B and Hip Hop albums of all time. March album of the month is Usher’s confessions on its anniversary!
